Since 1984

Forty years, one recipe book

Al Yeganeh opened in 1984 and created every famous recipe. His soup made the line, the line made the reputation, and one of Seinfeld's most famous episodes made the name known around the world.

The kitchen still makes those original recipes that set the standards for gourmet soups. Every bowl is served with fresh baked Brooklyn bread, fresh fruit and a piece of chocolate. The people in the line change; what they are waiting for does not.

We stopped by to pick up a couple of soups, the New England Clam Chowder and Potato Bacon. Both were served with a slice of bread and a peach. This meal was fantastic. If you love soup, you will love this place.

I got a large lobster bisque today. It was freezing cold and windy, so I ate it on the move. So creamy and rich, with chopped celery, cubed potatoes, shredded carrots, and pieces of lobster and fish. The bread was nice and fresh. It even came with an apple. It warmed my stomach and my heart.

Yes, it's the best soup ever. I came back here a few times and every soup I have tasted was stellar. The lobster bisque is gorgeous. The split pea and ham soup was spectacular. Seriously delicious soup.
